attendance in spirit.

Last night was a little stressful..because without TV we had no place to watch the Olympics Opening Ceremonies. Lucky for us, there was a free viewing at a movie theater not too far away from us. Olympics on a movie theater screen. Let me tell you, it doesn't get much better!

And after, we had some delicious Japanese food.

Aw look how happy he is.
It was such a good date night!

Today was a party too. A very productive one.
(Very sad about Michael Phelps though.)

We played tennis this morning and I actually did much better than I have before! After cleaning our apartment until it shined, Paul went and played some basketball and I made some food. I discovered that making 1/4 of my mom's roll recipe is the perfect size for a small group. We had a game night with a few other couples from our ward. We brought rolls and a delicious salad of cucumber, peppers, corn, and some dressing I made up. Yummy!

We played Apples to Apples, the most fun UNO game I've ever played (Killer UNO), and, of course, The Great Dalmuti! It makes me think of late nights at Priest Lake playing cards...so sad I missed out on that vacation.

But we were there in spirit, as these lovely pictures show. Awww...I love you guys.

I'm hoping so bad we get to go next year!

It's been a good weekend.

Oh, Happy Chocolate Milk Day. I had some tonight and it was lovely :)

Waiting for my crazy headache to go away!

Texas Fight joins Texas Flight!

While today is National Hot Dog Day, I had another celebration to participate in:

Yesterday Southwest Airlines announced its 5-year sponsorship of UT Athletics! So for at least the next 5 years, Southwest will be the Official Airline Sponsor of the Longhorns. It was quite an exciting event. Now, it meant that I once again had to be at work very early (before 5am to catch a flight to Austin) but it was definitely a party.

No, really. I did. Here's my proof from the floor of the marketing lobby:

I'll have to post the sign I put above it when it was drying..

Gary Kelly (CEO of Southwest) was there along with the director of UT Athletics, Deloss Dodds and other important people. I actually got to meet Gary as well as David Ridley, the CMO.

We passed out lots of lanyards..I was the lucky one who got to carry them on the plane.

The reason I created the big banner in the first place was so that everyone could break through it during the announcement. And that is what happened. It was pretty sad having to run and break through my hard work (that thing took forever!) but it was worth it. We had cheerleaders, Hook'em (the Longhorns' mascot), and the UT Alumni band.

David Ridley, CMO.

Hook'em!

This is my sign after the event..pretty sad looking.

Sometimes Southwest has in-flight concerts. How cool is that? Granger Smith (country artist who I hadn't heard of before) played on my flight home.

It was a fun day. And I ate about a million breakfast tacos. But it definitely wore me out!!

Congratulations, UT and Southwest! It's going to be a good 5 years.

too much food? nah.

You know those times when you get used to eating out a lot and get out of the groove of cooking? Yeah, we're about there. It's mostly because we get a lot of free food at events or get super busy/lazy. This week, being 4th of July and busy and different meant not much at-home food. If anyone has some good recipes to get me back into the swing of cooking, please let me know! Too much non-homemade food.

Now, this is a wonderful day.

Happy Chocolate Day!

Now, this day is not to be confused with National Chocolate Day or International Chocolate Day. Those are not in July. World Chocolate Day is on September 4 and National Chocolate Day is on October 28.

Chocolate Day, just plain old Chocolate Day, today, commemorates the day that chocolate was discovered in 1550. The start of the continental cocoa craze is traced to July 7 of that year.

To start out our chocolate celebration today, I made pancakes with a chocolate syrup. It wasn't like Hershey's syrup, but like an actual breakfast syrup, chocolate style. I don't know how to describe it. Just know it was delicious.

MMmmm.. After breakfast we went and played tennis! It was lots of fun. I haven't played since PE in junior high, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I'm still not that great. Hopefully we'll play more soon.

Because my hubby is a superstar, he went and played basketball after playing tennis.

What a champ. I love watching him play but boy it was hot outside!

The sun is keeping my hair nice and blonde :)

It is doing much better in the Dallas humidity than I thought it would.

Along with chocolate day, today is also National Macaroni Day!

I love macaroni and cheese. So we got to have it for dinner. And I LOVE the fake, boxed stuff, thank you very much.

Paul and I eat our Mac n Cheese very different.

Me: plain, with a fork, in a bowl.
Paul: mixed with tuna, with a spoon, in the pan.

I have to take out whatever I want before he dumps his stinky tuna in and ruins it. I guess it's his excuse to eat the rest.

To end this lovely day, we ate some more chocolate and watched "Unstoppable." I get so stressed out in movies like that.

But my Dove chocolate bar made it all better.

Have a wonderful rest of your weekend, y'all!

sports sponsorship

The Orlando Magic NBA team sent us cookies yesterday. How cool is that? I got a cookie from the Orlando Magic. And it was delicious. They had ones shaped like basketballs, basketball shoes, and ones with their logo on it. So cute!

I love being able to work with sports. It has been my dream for a long time to work in/with sports and I got to do it in college and am getting to do a little bit now! It's really fun.

Speaking of sports, last night we got to go to a Texas Rangers game with Paul's work. It was so fun! I haven't been to a major league baseball game since high school and haven't ever watched the Rangers, as far as I can remember.

(Beth, don't read this part.) I really am not a baseball person. I think it's really boring especially since things only happen about half of the time. Most of the game you're just waiting..and waiting..and waiting for something to happen...ANYTHING to happen!

But we had a great time talking to the other interns, mostly about the NBA draft and playing basketball on Saturday, and eating the yummy free food. And the Rangers won, 7-6.

It makes me so happy seeing Southwest signage and advertising different places. Mostly because I kind of have something to do with some of it! Sometimes..

Phil looking drunk in the background..don't worry, he wasn't.

The one thing I will give baseball, they do have beautiful stadiums.

Hopefully I'll continue tot get to work with sports or in sports. It will be so fun seeing the things I work on roll out for the rest of the season. I love sports. I love the atmosphere, competitiveness, and industry in general.

Even if it's baseball.

easter.

Today we went and visited my family for Easter.
The Master's golf tournament has been going on since Thursday and my mom asked if I knew what all the birdies and eagles and everything meant. My reply?
"Since I was 5."

I don't know how accurate that is but I am very grateful for my dad for teaching me the basics of sports from such a young age. Especially since I am now married to a very devoted ESPN follower. In just about every sport. And he watches all the rest. With me.

And the double eagle today by Oosthuizen? Mind blown.

I am very grateful today that I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am grateful for the knowledge of the atonement and that my Savior died and, most importantly, lived for me. I get to be with my family forever because of what He did for me, and for us. It was a good Easter.

And I am now a blondie. Pictures to come.

Now, to finish school.

What's wrong with the Y?

I played the piano on Saturday for the first time in a while. And I actually played. For real. And for a few hours. I stopped taking lessons because I got tendinitis and, unfortunately, it seems that I still have some of the effects. But it was fun to play and I don't sound too horrible.

On Saturday while Paul was playing capture the flag at the "Ernst & Younger Games," I was at the spring game for football. It's basically a scrimmage with the BYU Football team. It was pretty boring. But take a look at the field...

Do you notice anything odd?
Well, the Y is backwards.
I bet someone feels really silly about that.

Kentucky vs. Louisville in the Final Four! Pretty cool. Paul is SO excited.

This week was pretty rough with school. We are coming down the home stretch with tests and assignments, and everything is all piling up on itself. I only have 7 days left of class! It's going to be a busy few weeks though. We have to start packing and studying for finals and getting everything ready for Texas.

I won $100 this morning doing a mock sales presentation to Target. I was Durham Brands and they have this sweet new bag coming out. They're called Kaboo Bags and have a tech pouch for your iPad, Nook, etc. I think I want to buy one.

We are probably buying an XBox . . and we don't even have a TV. Go figure.
