Paul and I love puzzles. By January we had completed either 1000 piece puzzles together.

One Sunday Paul was leaving for Tyler, Texas where he would spend the week at a client. We had just gotten a new puzzle for Christmas from my family so we started it together and bascally only finished the edges before he had to go.

Paul is the real puzzle expert (I get frustrated with the parts that all look the same like the sky, water, etc) so I just decided to sort the pieces by area/color and do some of the easier sections.

So I got started and was having a pretty good time. I just kept going and going until probably 12:30 or 1 in the morning...

Not bad for one day, huh?

The next morning I went right back to work and within 24 hours of starting, I had become the new puzzle expert:

Everything done minus the sky. I waited until Paul got home that weekend to finish since the sky is always his favorite part. It's a beautiful puzzle.

I also got a haircut and glasses this month! I haven't worn glasses since probably junior high so they have taken some getting used to.

I also perfected my roll recipe this month. Texas/my apartment requires some adjustments when making these beauties. But I have finally figured it out and they have become quite a hit!

Last year I became a huge Oklahoma City Thunder fan. So Paul got us tickets to see them play the Mavs at the American Airlines Center!

It was an amazing game. I had such a blast! It went into overtime with a last second shot by the Mavs and KD (favorite player!) delivered at the end and the Thunder pulled off the win. Couldn't have asked for a better game!

We've made some awesome friends since moving to Dallas. This makes for getting invited to great parties where the boys play Poker and the girls chat until after midnight.

We love Dallas! I have no plans to leave.

Move Along

I have this thing where I'm really paranoid about using the same blog post title twice. Not  that anyone would notice..

Happy National Watermelon Day!

I love watermelon. But I am super picky about the texture. It doesn't have to be super sweet for me to like it..it just has to have a solid, firm texture. And be cold. Good watermelon can make any day great.

After my late night chatting with Beth and Holly, I slept in until around 9 (shocking). I actually woke up at around 6 thinking I had missed my alarm but really that was just the time I usually go to work in Texas. So I went back to bed. 

We got up and got ready and got some delicious food at Zupas. More talking, catching up, and agreeing to stay caught up followed.

I love Zupas so much. And it's something you can't get in Texas so I had to!

I love this girl so very very much!

I got to attend my cousin's wedding and see a lot of family - it was so fun to see everyone! Seeing family is the greatest, and being far away makes it so much sweeter. It was especially fun since no one knew I was coming so it was a little surprise. 

In high school I was a Studentbody Officer and today there was a party for Mrs. Sheen, our adviser who is now retiring from that position. It was so good to see her. I had an awesome time in student council and Sheen taught me a lot. It was definitely a party. We had 7/10 officers there! The other 3 are still on missions. It was so fun seeing them, most of them I haven't seen since graduation over 3 years ago. I'm the only one who is out of Utah! I guess that makes sense since everyone is still in school.

It was another situation where no one knew I was coming and it was fun to see the look on their faces when I walked up. After Sheen's celebration they were having a birthday party and were kind enough to invite me! It was so much fun. We had fake margaritas (21st birthdays being celebrated - we had to go a little crazy) and birthday cake.

It was so much fun. But I have a hard time revisiting high school. It doesn't bring back a lot of happy for me. Driving around American Fork can be a little painful sometimes. It really makes me appreciate my Paul. He's so wonderful and makes me so happy. This is definitely the best chapter of my life, and it's only getting better from here :) I'm in love.

Birthday #21.

Hey y'all! I'm playing catch-up. No time to blog on vacation :)

August 2 - Happy Birthday..to me :)
This birthday could have been quite a disaster. Paul left for Florida on Wednesday for an intern conference EY has at Disney World. Yes, he was in Disney World on my birthday. Rude.

The funny thing was I didn't even remember it was my birthday. Literally. I've never had that happen before. But after getting ready, having yogurt for breakfast, and cleaning up the apartment, I got a sweet text from my hubby wishing me a Happy Birthday. Aww :)

My team at work bought me a huge jug of animal crackers and gave me a sweet letter. I love animal crackers. Unfortunately, they are very addicting and are already half gone. Don't worry, I haven't eaten them all by myself.

My sweet cube-mate, Carrie, drove me to the airport at lunchtime and there began my last non-rev adventure. Dallas to Lubbock was easy, but I was warned getting on that I might get pulled off of the plane in Vegas. That would definitely have ruined my day. Who wants to get stuck in Lubbock, TX? Luckily, they let me stay on the plane and I safely made it to Vegas.

Lubbock to Vegas was my longest flight and I didn't have time to get lunch anywhere, so this was my meal for the day:

I didn't feel the greatest later.

So many people want to go to Vegas for their 21st birthday. I couldn't wait to get out! It was fun seeing the "21 and over" type signs and knowing I was old enough for anything Vegas had to offer. Good thing none of it is appealing to me. 

I spent about an hour in Vegas on the standby list waiting to go to Salt Lake. Originally I wasn't worried about this flight because there were plenty of seats but for some reason a lot of people decided to go to Salt Lake City last minute. But once again I was able to get on!

It was a very long day of 3 different flights but funny flight attendants and just making every flight made it wonderful.

And then I got to see my family! They had dinner all ready and even had a birthday cake waiting.

It was a delicious chocolate cake with snickers and whipped cream. Thanks, McKay and mom!

We watched some Olympics together and chatted and then I headed down to Provo to spend the night with my bestest friend, Beth. But of course when I got there she wasn't even home. Loved..

Luckily Holly was there! She had been on skype with a special boy and though I told her several times to leave me to finish her conversation, she refused. What a wonderful ex-roommate she is. :) It was a great talk about life and love and all that jazz. Talking to these girls makes me miss single life a tad but mostly makes me really really appreciate being married.

When Beth got home we talked until around 2:30am. Talk about major catch-up! It was so great. I love my Bethy! I need to be better at calling people I want to stay in touch with..you miss out on a lot when you move to another state and don't call very often!

If you don't realize how ridiculously in love I am with my husband, you probably don't read my blog very often. This guy is the greatest thing. Ever. When Paul was on the bus home from Disney World full of who-knows-how-many interns, he called me and got the entire bus to sing Happy Birthday to me. It was basically the sweetest thing. Definitely not something I expected! It was hard being away from my sweety on my birthday, our first one as a married couple, but this definitely helped.

Paul is the first boy to ever kiss me on my birthday. Cute, huh? He is also the first boy I ever kissed on their birthday. Kind of special.

Overall, successful 21st birthday.

Happy National Girlfriends' Day!


It was a good one. I got to teach a bunch of interns about what I've done this summer, show my team a slideshow of all the cool things I've gotten to do this summer, and my awesome girls from work took me out to lunch! They are so sweet :) Thanks, Carrie!

Paul left this morning for Disney World..I can't believe he went without me. I really don't like going to sleep when I'm the only one in the apartment. Especially since I'm paranoid a bunch of bugs are going to come out and I'm going to have to battle them by myself.

Everybody pray really hard I make all of my flights this weekend, k?

Last night was a little stressful..because without TV we had no place to watch the Olympics Opening Ceremonies. Lucky for us, there was a free viewing at a movie theater not too far away from us. Olympics on a movie theater screen. Let me tell you, it doesn't get much better!

And after, we had some delicious Japanese food.

It was such a good date night!

 Today was a party too. A very productive one.

(Very sad about Michael Phelps though.)

We played tennis this morning and I actually did much better than I have before! After cleaning our apartment until it shined, Paul went and played some basketball and I made some food. I discovered that making 1/4 of my mom's roll recipe is the perfect size for a small group. We had a game night with a few other couples from our ward. We brought rolls and a delicious salad of cucumber, peppers, corn, and some dressing I made up. Yummy!

We played Apples to Apples, the most fun UNO game I've ever played (Killer UNO), and, of course, The Great Dalmuti! It makes me think of late nights at Priest Lake playing cards...so sad I missed out on that vacation. 

But we were there in spirit, as these lovely pictures show. Awww...I love you guys.

I'm hoping so bad we get to go next year!

It's been a good weekend. 

Oh, Happy Chocolate Milk Day. I had some tonight and it was lovely :)

start spreading the news

This is part 2 of our epic weekend! Find part 1 here!

After driving the 2.5 ish hours to from Philly to New York, we found a parking garage and set out. It is quite the adventure driving around that area! We got a little lost but got to see some stadiums and things on our way to the Lincoln Tunnel. No rain in New York!

 I believe this is where the Giants and Jets play.

Paul is SO excited for The Dark Knight Rises, so I had to snap this pic and send it to him:

They had ads for this movie covering walls of buildings all over the place! We are seeing it today in IMAX so hopefully it lives up to all the hype. And hopefully I actually enjoy it. I'm kind of paranoid now after the tragedy in Colorado..I can't believe that would happen. My thoughts and prayers with those suffering.

First stop? Central Park. What a beautiful place! The weather was perfect and we took a nice long stroll around.

We weren't hungry having eaten a lot not that long ago in Philly, but we had to try Wafels. 
We are so grateful for our awesome tour guides who knew all the best places!

I love eating places that have been featured on Food Network.

They even beat Bobby Flay on Throwdown It had to be good.

And oh...it was.

Next time I go to Central Park, I will get one.

First Subway experience:

 On the subway we saw some very interesting people. Our favorite game was "man or woman?" Yeah, it was interesting. A very nice man with painted toenails helped us find our way.

By the end my feet were about to fall off. For some reason, right when I got off the plane in Philly on Friday night my right foot was killing me. It was so painful to walk. I figured I had just tweaked something and it would be fine when I woke up in the morning...no..not so much. I was kind of in agony for the entire trip but let me tell you, it was so worth it. Unfortunately my foot still hurts but not quite as much.

Times Square! Advertisement Overload! Marketing capital! I loved it!!

I had so much fun, but I don't think it's a place I would ever want to live. I'm finding out that I am not the greatest in big cities. Mostly because I hate spending money and the city is very expensive, and I would go crazy trying to get around! As much as I hate driving, I would rather drive than take a taxi any day. I don't know what it is, but taxis give me anxiety like nothing else.

We got a quick 4 hours (if that) of sleep in New Jersey before heading back to the airport and back to Dallas. I had a row to myself on the flight from Newark to Houston (I think we stopped in Houston..I don't remember) and got some good sleep. Houston to Dallas wasn't as good. It was a more crowded flight and the baby behind me, as cute as he was, kept reaching over my seat and drooling. The disturbing part was that the drool seeped into the seat before I had a chance to get some napkins from the flight attendant...ew. I wonder what other fluids are hiding in those seats..

Thank you, ladies, for an AMAZING weekend! Especially Emilee and Danelle for the transportation and crazy tour guide skills.

Can't wait to go back with my hubby!
